The Bridgewater Community Lions Club is now up and running! The Presidents and Secretaries of the sponsoring clubs signed the Charter Application yesterday, along with the District Governor, and the paperwork is on its way to Lions Club International (LCI)! All that’s left now is for LCI to issue the club our official club number, but for all intents and purposes Bridgewater now has 3 Lions clubs!

We should receive the official charter in about 45 days. That document will define the official charter date of the club. From that date anyone who joins the club within 90 days will still be considered a charter member, so it’s not too late to join and have your name added to the official Charter document with the fancy seal and the signatures of all the Lions dignitaries.

It’s time to celebrate!

We had a great Open House on Thursday night. It was great to see how enthusiastic everyone is about this new Lions Club. This will be a truly multi-generational volunteer group with a membership that ranges in age from 18 to nearly 80! Our instincts were right: this is going to be a fantastic group of people to volunteer with.

In addition to the adults who attended, we had 9 youngsters (the “Cub Club”). The Easter baskets that the kids made during the Open House will be delivered to the Bridgewater Nursing Home right after St. Patrick’s Day (which this year is less than a week before Easter).

There were a number of people who indicated that they were interested in attending the Open House, but had conflicts on that night. Additionally, at least two of the attendees have invited some of their friends to join us. As a result, we’re planning an additional Open House. We had hoped to have the next Open House within the next two weeks, but the Conant Health Center is booked pretty solidly this month.

The next Open House will be held on Tuesday, March 25, from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM at the Conant Health Center. If you’re planning to attend that night, please take a moment and RSVP to let us know that you’re coming. It will help us a lot in figuring out what we will need in the way of refreshments, etc. In the event that you’re unable to attend on that night, we welcome you to join us on the night of our first club meeting: Thursday, March 27 at the Conant Health Center.

Again, “Thanks!” to those of you that attended last Thursday evening. We’ll see you at the first Organizational (Club) Meeting on Thursday, March 27. More details about that meeting will follow.

Would you like to spend more quality time with your family? Do you wish you had more time for FUN in your life?

Do you want to give something back to the community?

Are you interested in making the town of Bridgewater (not to mention the rest of the world) a better place to live?

Do you think you’re too busy to do any of the above (because of your or your family’s hectic schedule)?

If you answered “Yes” to any of the questions above, then come to the Conant Health Center on Wally Krueger Way in Bridgewater on Tuesday, January 29th, 6:00-8:00 PM. The Bridgewater Community Lions Club will show you how you can do ALL of the above (in some cases without even leaving your home)!

You’ll learn something new about Lions and about yourself. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. Bring your kids (we’re serious about families).

Come join us! Serve the Community, Save the World.

Next weekend (December 14, 15, 16) the Bridgewater Lions Club is hosting the Bridgewater Festival of Lights at 55 Alexander Drive. If you haven’t seen it before, it is a truly spectacular display of Christmas lights with an animated walk through village. It’s a chance to see Santa, the Lion, and enjoy free coffee, hot chocolate & popcorn. They will be having pictures with Santa and a raffle. For more information you can visit Bridgewater Festival of Lights.

It’s official! The Bridgewater Community Lions Club is now forming and seeking new members!

The club is being formed by Joyce and Martin Middleton to address the need for a family-friendly, multi-generational community service club. We are honored that the two existing Lions clubs have agreed to co-sponsor this new club.

The Bridgewater Community Lions Club will provide an opportunity for families to spend time together, helping improve the Bridgewater community through service to others, both locally and across the globe. The club will be hosting an informational meeting on Monday, December 17th, 6-7:30 PM at the Conant Health Center on Wally Kruger Way in Bridgewater.

The public is invited to come and find out more about the fun of becoming a Lion! Light snacks and refreshments will be served. Children are welcome. For more information, please contact Martin Middleton (508-697-6939 or martin.middleton@bridgewaterlions.org).
