Members of the Bridgewater Community Lions (BCLC), the Cub Club, and the Greater Bridgewater Leos Club got together this past Saturday and drove to Weymouth in order to clean, read, and catalogue over 200 pairs of eyeglasses which had been previously collected. The organizer of the event was Robin Piccini, a member of the Bridgewater Community Lions. “We had lots of fun on Saturday. Now that everyone feels comfortable reading glasses [with a lens analyzer]; we should be able to read 120 an hour. It was fun watching the kids pick up on it so fast.”

This was our first project to support Make a Difference Day. Thanks to Eye Health Associates of Weymouth who donated the use of the space and equipment in order to allow us to complete this project. The BCLC and the Leos will continue to collect eyeglasses for future “eyeglass reading parties”.
