History
It was at a District 33-S Midwinter Conference that the Greater Bridgewater Leo Club began. Peter A. Bertelli was attending the conference in support of his grandparents, (then Past Council Chair) Past International Director L. Doug Sime and Lion Vale Sime. He noticed some members around his age and soon inquired how they were able to be Lions. After some research he learned of the Leo Club movement and was quick to get involved.
Finding out no Leo Clubs existed in the area, he asked his grandmother to contact her Lions Club to consider forming one. Then President, Les Dorr, broke the good news and told him to start searching for a member to approach to be the Leo Club Advisor. At the Multiple District 33 State Convention Paula M. Myers approached Peter to congratulate him on taking the initiative to form such a club and to give her best wishes. He immediately asked her if she would be interested in serving as the Leo Club Advisor, and with some thought and consideration, she agreed.
Pulling in friends, schoolmates and other members of the community, the club chartered with 12 members to begin it’s work in bettering the world.
